Same-sex marriage and gay marriage are terms for a legally or socially recognized marriage between two people of the same sex. The first country to allow same-sex couples to enter into legally recognized marriage was the Netherlands, effective in 2001. Since then, six other countries and seven U.S. states have followed suit, though voters in California revoked it through passage of Proposition 8.
I want to research this issue because I have seen a film recently, called Milk. It's interpreted into Chinese as 自由大道. In this film, gays in California strives for their rights, and I am deeply moved. They have a slogan, "Civil rights or civil war, gay rights now!" It's powerful and effective, I love this slogan upmost. From this point, I rethink about marriage in gays. Why can't they get married? And why can't the marriage between them accepted?
I know in Taiwan gay marriage is a taboo, so many people don't validate it, some even think gay is evil. But still some give gays a positive attitude, support them to get married. Actually, this kind of controversy exists not only in Taiwan but also all around the world.
